Social media like Twitter is the networking and marketing tools that cannot be ignored.

Raffles will be using Twitter to communicate as well as network with like-minded people in cyberspace and especially fellow “Givers Gain” fellow members of BNI in the world.

Raffles tweets can be viewed at http://www.twitter.com/bniraffles and you can start following from there.

BNI Raffles on Twitter

In due of the BNI National Conference in Singapore on 30th June, there will be no meeting in Singapore for all chapters including Raffles.

“How do you clock sales of about $20,000 a month despite a downturn?” was the first statement in the article on page 24 of the Sunday Times on 26th April.

This is the first time that BNI in Singapore is getting such a big coverage.

The 24 years old formula which started in the USA and taken root in Singapore in 1999 has quietly grown to 300 members in 16 chapters and with the economic downturn, the number of core-groups (to create new chapters) has risen.

Even more so during such bad times, people will prefer to deal with people whom they know, like and trust. BNI is undoubtedly the few if not, the only business platform for serious business owners looking for a low-cost long term marketing machine to support and grow his/her business.

Unless one visit a chapter like Raffles BNI, no words can describe its uniqueness and effectiveness not seen by most in business.

01 2nd, 2009

Dawn just broke for year 2009.

In retrospect, it had been an exciting year for Raffles Chapter in 2008! Read on and find out for yourself!

On board Raffles are Wendy, Isaac, Sophia, Avis and Mike!!! Adding to this list of New Members is Dr Choo, the latest edition!!! Raffles is glad that these members believe in the Givers Gain philosophy. Certainly, Belief is a birth step leaping to greater potentials.

Of Mike, it was noteworthy that he visited not only Raffles but other Chapters too. It is true that everyone has their prerogatives to “choose” their desired Chapter.

Unselfishly, Raffles sincerely hopes he can find his comfy nest as long he is in BNI Singapore. Yet….. Mike ”came back” to Raffles Chapter to our great astonishment with an intent to join us!

An interview with him revealed one of the secrets of Raffles Chapter which we are most glad to share….The TRUTH is that Mike feels comfy in Raffles Chapter!!! Nothing surprising as members & Visiting Hosts are warm & welcoming! Personally, I must say the enthusiastic spirit & zest in Raffles are contagious! Be warned! Wink3.

To that chord, Raffles must acknowledged the earnest effort of Daniel. Inevitably, our long serving Membership Committee has again proven his contribution to the Chapter! His credentials in his appointment are undisputable. Working in a knit, is Kelly who ensures members are committed to the Chapter in their own scoreboard attendance.

Well,  just like Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company  said ” Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. “

Well done Raffles!

Once again, Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllcome aboard, all you New Members!!!   Posted by James Tan

Raffles Chapter will “smell nicer” from August 2008 onwards as we have a sweet and bubbly florist on board with us.

I am please to announce that WENDY HO from Plenty of Petals & Gifts is officially a Rafflesian! And she has gone through the MSP101 course… Can’t wait for her showcase!

Let’s all put our hands together to welcome her!

Our Visitors Day is proven a success today (1 Aug 08)!

Althought the turn out is as expected, the visitos are really participants and genuine networkers who are keen to expand their business.

The networking session after the meeting is proven more fruitful… Some visitors found business alliances here and I can already see a strong synergy between them. Some visitors are impressed by the meeting and apparently planning to come for the 2nd time and considering joining the chapter.

Pictures taken on the very day!

Many economic gurus are saying the “R” word …. recession. Every time the economy takes a downturn, the fallout is felt strongly by salespeople, business owners and professionals alike.

Don’t let a bad economy be your excuse for failure. Instead, make it your opportunity to succeed. While others are looking at the problems, those of us looking for opportunities will not only get through a bad economy but will prosper.

Read the full article at Dr. Ivan Misner’s blog

Don’t forget to read his follow-up article about many with the  “Yeabut syndrome
” saying “Yea but things are different for me” or “this is different in my area” or “it is different in my business“, etc.

Bottomline - Only the strong, smart, and “networked,” suvive a recession.

Members should be briefed by now (by the Term 3 LT) that a new rule is in place to control member’s usage of substitutes, in another word, we want genuine and committed members, hence we need real-person-participation, not the substitutes!

With effect from  April 2008, usage of substitutes will be limited to 5 times in every term (every 6 months). Vice President will be tracking and reporting on this in every 1 week of the month. Warning letter will be served to members who exceeded the allowed number of substitutes. His/ her business category will be at risk of possession by a new member in such event… so let’s not risk our hrd work that way. Nevertheless, the rule is require to govern such situation or possible misuse of substitutes.

Members should understand how crucial it is for members to see each other’s face and make personal representation for their business. No one know their business like themselves. I am sure many will agree to this statement.

It’s only with enough trust that business referral will be given confidently by all members! So let’s all use substitutes on urgent or genuine situation! :-)

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Joshua Lee who recently join Raffles Chapter.

Joshua was inducted on 29 Feb 2008. It’s a leap year! What a day to remember for Joshua. It’ll be easy to remember when his membership expire in future.

“Joshua, I will be looking out for you… cos I keep track of the money in the chapter!” (quote by Kelly).

Besides Joshua Lee, we are also extremely priviledged to have Jarod Lim and Letchime Pang on board. Both members join in January 2008.

Jarod and Letchime, many apologies for not posting a welcome message on Raffles site as the site was undergoing “reconstruction”… now the site pages are neat and information can be obtained easily… so the blogrolls and comments can be posted neatly which explain why I am able to post a welcome message for Joshua. Please do not misunderstand my seem “bias” action. =)

Anyway it’s a great start for Raffles Chapter for year 2008. 3 more people join the chapter and this means a bigger and better force for business refferals.

Full steam ahead everyone!
